Why, hello there, first writing-related paycheck!
So, if you go over to the Swarm Press site, you can get an eyeful of the book that I'm currently copyediting.
Brave Men Run. That's right, bitches.
This book is the one that I was gushing about yesterday. It really is that good. It's such a strange feeling to edit a book that I've known about for ages. I'm also glad that I it didn't reach the top of my TBR pile sooner. Editing this doesn't feel like a job at all.
And then I somehow rolled into semi-copyediting.
I wrote two short stories today: Prada & The Giant Sloth, and Dentophilia.
That's about 9000 words of fiction. Woah.
But no acceptions either.
Last night I finished proofreading one of Permuted's upcoming novels. It was a lot of fun to do. Probably because two editors had already gone over it, so there were hardly any errors left in there.
Matt McElroy has invited me to submit some reviews to Flames Rising. This is awesome. I've never written a 'real' review before - the ones I post here really won't be up to scratch. I'll be working on that this weekend, which I'm both looking forward to and dreading.
I got my sleep pattern fixed! This is awesome.
Not only in general, but because I've got a meeting at noon today for the next Angler.
Okay, this was boring. Signing off.
BYEEEE. I love you!
Matt F'in Wallace. AND he's talking about sloths.
I realise that lots of people interact with podfic authors, but I don't know. Whenever I get a chance to communicate with someone whose work has taken residence in my mind for a while, it's just amazing. That's the brain behind the characters you came to care about, that you rooted for, that you hated.
I'm weird.
If you look at my NaNo 07 post within 5 hours of this post being posted (ah, NaNo sentences), you will see how much I rock. Laws yes.
If it wasn't sad even by my standards, I'd high five myself.
...Or maybe not because the widget isn't updating, even though I updated my wordcount on the NaNo site. Anyway, I'm now on 29429 after writing almost 4000 words today. Win.
Today, Leah is a happy bunny.
Firstly, because over the past three months I've lost a lot of weight. I bought a pair of jeans 3 months ago that fit me perfectly. Today I can pull them down without unbuttonning or unzipping them. This is awesome.
Secondly because Scott Sigler actually replied to my blog post about him. I know he's big on audience interaction, but this is an author whose work I really enjoy, actually leaving a comment on my blog. I'm officially star-struck.
Lastly, because I can finally log in to Vox from my parents' computer again! All in all, this is pretty awesome, people.
NaNo is starting to go my way again. As of yesterday, I was only 200 words behind. I've yet to start on today's writing, and I was stupid enough to not mail my progress to myself. Now I'm away from my own computer and I can't remember where I left off yesterday. I don't have time to wait for Marijn to get home and mail me what I mailed him yesterday, so I'll just make it up. I'm going to have to edit the crap out of this beast anyway.
Also, I have to read Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison for Tuesday. Holy crap that's a big book. My entire weekend is going to be consumed by NaNo, Old English, Ralph Ellison, Crescent, and hopefully some blissfully useless hours on my DS.
When I saw today's Word of the Day, the H. P. Lovecraft fangirl in my threw her unnatural head back and cackled at the gibbous moon in a decidedly non-Euclidian manner.
OH MY GOD NEIL GAIMAN IS ONE OF THE FAMOUS AUTHORS WHO IS GIVING PEP TALKS FOR NANOWRIMO PARTICIPANTS THIS YEAR.
This is probably the closest I will ever get to having the anthropomorphic personification of all that is awesome and good talk to me AND I CAN'T WAIT.
Holy crap.
